New Sherlock Holmes promotional game promises a great time… with friends
If anybody remembers playing co-operatively on Doom or, more recently, Left4Dead, you’ll be familiar with the social networking this engenders. The “I’ve got your back”, “you need that health pack more than me” and “I just ‘accidentally’ shot you in the back” that all that entails, too. Well, there’s a new game in town – 221b, where you have to co-operate.
You sign in through Facebook Connect, and you need a friend to help you in your investigations. Whomever signs up first plays as either Holmes or Watson, and then nominates someone else to play the other part. Each half gets some part of the clues, but you need to work together to solve the cases. A new case is released every week until the Boxing Day release of the new Sherlock Holmes film.
According to The Guardian, it’s pretty damn good, too…
PS: the domain is a .sh, which is the gTLD for the South Atlantic island of Saint Helena. It also stands, of course, for Sherlock Holmes. One for the “nice touches” department…
